41411 rmmbr

rmmbr is a tool that lets you text short notes to your inbox. You can use it to send yourself reminders, note stuff you want to research later and so on.

It's simple to use: text rmmbr followed by the word/s you want to remember to 41411 and you'll get an email with the words as a Google search link.

For example, you're browsing a magazine at a coffee shop and there's an interesting article you want to read once you get back home - text rmmbr nymag osinski wall street to 41411 and an email containing this link goes to your inbox:

http://www.google.com/search?q=nymag+osinski+wall+street

Or, you pass by a new restaurant that looks interesting and you want to check it out later rmmbr pisticci or you see a poster for a concert you want to go to rmmbr sonic youth jun 18 or you suddenly realize your wedding anniversary is coming up rmmbr tiffany (or rmmbr roses, rmmbr doesn't judge). Whatever. It will get sent it to your inbox, with a Google search link.

To activate rmmbr, send the following text to 41411

rmmbr signup my.email@email.com
(replace my.email@email.com with your actual email address).

Make sure to send this from your own phone - rmmbr will connect the email address in the message with the phone# it was sent from.

rmmbr will never give out your email or phone number

rmmbr is a tool I built for myself and, having found it pretty handy, thought it might interest other people as well. The text messages are handled by Textmarks, the storage by Google's App Engine. It is provided with no guarantees for reliability and is not meant for critical applications.
